For the pop-up shop, we were asked to produce a form of merchandise that could be linked to our work. The first thing that came to mind when thinking of producing merchandise would be to use either a good image of the whole piece of your work or one of the best sections of your work. You would then get those images printed onto professional paper so that they become prints, posters, and stickers.
Some of my ideas for the pop-up shop include incorporating original postcard pieces of my work from scraps of leftover printed fabric. I would also like to make some keyrings out of the images, that way the likelihood that they stay with someone for a long time is high. Badges are another popular thing to add to bags and jackets, they also give a strong opportunity for exposure. Aprons were another idea I had, but I would need to check the costs of them and the time it would take to print multiple. I also need to think of the pop-up shop as a more affordable space, focussing on taking a souvenir of the work rather than taking the main pieces as not everyone has the space. I did wonder how far I can push the idea of the pop-up shop with my work, maybe incorporating more conceptual material. I would do this by considering the materials used for it to link to my subject, either using something that was once part of my degree show or a miniature version of it.
