Printmaking

Writer: PS by handPS by hand

Printmaking is a popular medium that interests and appeals to me. When I was a college student and took an art and design course, my appreciation for printmaking was first sparked. This is where I first developed an interest in screen printing, dry point etching, and linocut fundamentals. But once I entered university, my curiosity really grew because there was a special room for printmaking that included a wide range of tools that weren't available at college.

Although I like discovering all the innovative and exciting print-related techniques available, my practice is process-driven in many media.

I use a lot of material from social media, my imagination, and, most lately, photographs, during my practise. Leaving me free to look more deeply into a variety of aspects.

Depending on what I'm working on, my method differs for hobby projects, although it frequently begins in my camera roll. Because I have always enjoyed using photographs to record events, I have a seemingly limitless number of concepts for prints in my possession.

Why printmaking?

I adore the hands-on approach and the variety of processes it offers. Even the prints that appear to be very simple were created with great care and affection. I also like the notion that not every piece can naturally be same because prints can fail, but I also like incorporating this into my practice because it illustrates the idea that not everything needs to be identical or flawless.

How long have you been printmaking?

For around five years.

Do you happen to have any suggestions for other print makers and artists?

Take a chance! Investigate, try new things, and relish the experience!

Keep your eyes peeled for my next blog which will be about the printing techniques I have used within my practice throughout my three years of uni!
